•Osteoporosis Medications:  Medications such as Fosamax® and Aredia®, which are used for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and Pagets Disease, have been linked to osteonecrosis of the jaws, a rare but serious condition which can cause destruction or loss of bone in the jaws.  Other medications in this category include Bonita®, Actonel® and Zometa® and are taken orally or given intravenously (IV).  Although the incidence of this complication is very low, consultation with your prosthodontist, oral and maxillofacial surgeon or physician is suggested if you are taking these medications.  Please visit the following links for additional information:
